Comfort of human connection

Wellbeing by Design is an original live conversation series with Dr. Juliette Tobias-Webb & Vishal George. We share insights, evidence and practical tools from behavioural science to design a life with intention so that we feel better equipped to support the beautiful humans around us.

In this conversation, we explore the "comfort of human connection". The research shows that people who struggle with loneliness end up living shorter lives, and they also are at an increased risk for heart disease, depression, dementia, anxiety, and a host of other conditions. The topics we discuss are: (1) Why do our social connections matter? (2) What does the behavioural research tell us about loneliness and social connectivity? (3) How can we incorporate human connection into our lives for hope and healing?

Juliette has a PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of Cambridge. She enjoyed stints as a lecturer and research officer at globally-renowned institutions including the University of British Columbia, the University of Sydney, Bond University, and Kaplan University. She has also published a number of journal articles in leading psychology and neuroscience journals.
